Not any bag will work for vacuum sealing. Regular bags leak oxygen and will not hold a vacuum. When looking for a vacuum bag, be sure the bag specifies being a barrier bag. The amount of barrier will depend on the thickness of the materials and what the bag is made from.
Do FoodSaver bags work with other brands?
Each different brand of vacuum sealer has designed their machine to operate at a slightly different temperature, so using Vacuum Sealer Bags from other manufacturers can be problematic, as they may not seal properly or may melt creating a mess or causing damage.
Can I use regular Ziploc bags with FoodSaver?
Ziplock bags can be sealed with a FoodSaver for a stronger seal that can be used for long-term storage. The FoodSaver will remove the air and seal the Ziplock bag, allowing the contents to stay fresh for a much longer period of time.
Can you use FoodSaver to seal chip bags?
You can use your FoodSaver® appliance for re-sealing Mylar-type (strong, thin polyester) or stiff plastic bags. You can re-seal potato chip and pretzel bags, but do not vacuum them as you will crush the contents.
Are all FoodSaver bags the same?
FoodSaver® Bags and Rolls have not changed. The FoodSaver® bags are still made from the same, highest quality materials.
Can you wash and reuse FoodSaver bags?
Can I re-use the Vacuum Zipper bags? Yes. The bags are re-sealable for every day use! However we do not recommend that they be washed and reused because it might compromise the ability to create a proper vacuum.
Are Ziploc freezer bags airtight?
Ziploc bags have a tight seal, but they are not completely airtight. The unique zipper seal will minimize the amount of air that can slowly seep into the bag to keep your foods fresher longer.

Can you vacuum seal a cereal bag?
Similar to your rice and pasta containers, cereal boxes can occupy large areas of space. Keep your sugary treats separated from your whole-wheat bites by keeping your cereal in resealable bags that can be used by your vacuum sealer.
How do you use strawberries in a FoodSaver?
Place the sheet pan in the freezer for about 3 hours, or until the strawberries are firm to the touch. Take the berries out of the freezer, immediately place in your freezer bag. If you are using a food saver, seal the strawberries. I like to label the bag with the quantity and date.
Can you vacuum seal crisps?
