Concentric Vent. General. The Concentric Vent allows both the intake for combustion air and the exhaust vent to pass through a standard roof or sidewall. This is an alternative to the standard two pipe intake/vent shown in the basic furnace installation instructions.
Is a concentric vent a direct vent?
Concentric Vent
It can provide an aesthetic installation with a single wall or roof penetration. Concentric venting may be used with several types of water heaters, including direct vent, power direct vent, and tankless water heaters.
Can a concentric vent be extended?
You can extend the concentric vent kit up to 60″ by replacing the piping between the concentric Y fitting and the rain cap. You must use SDR-26 PVC pipe. It’s 33.5″ length is so that it can extend through a single roof opening, then you can connect 2″ or 3″ pvc from your furnace to it.
Can you cut down a concentric vent?
Note: When shortening the length of the concentric vent, the inner pipe is longer than the outer pipe. Make sure you cut the same amount from each pipe. Do not make them equal in length. ** Dimension A will change accordingly as dimension D is lengthened or shortened.
Do you glue concentric vent?
Allow 8” center-to-center distance between concentric vent terminations on multiple boiler installations (see Fig. 7). It is very important to properly glue all joints. Failure to do so can result in property damage, serious personal injury, or death.
How close can two concentric vents be?
a) Multiple Concentric Vents should not be installed directly above one another unless separated by a minimum distance of 3 feet.
Can high efficiency furnace be vented through the roof?
Plugged exterior vents.
Depending on the installation, a high efficiency furnace will have at least one, and sometimes two, PVC pipes exiting the home. In newly built homes these vents will usually exit thru the roof.
Can I use PVC to vent gas water heater?
A standard will be needed for plastic flue pipes that should include a temperature gauge and a high limit probe. Then PVC, CPVC and polypropylene flue gas piping can be safely used on high efficiency boilers and water heaters.
What’s the difference between power vent and power direct vent?
Basically, the difference between the two is that the power vent water heater removes combustion gases from the atmosphere via a powered venting fan, while a direct vent water heater vents these gases into the outdoor atmosphere using a chimney or exhaust pipe.
Can you vent a gas water heater out the side of the house?
Power-vented natural gas water heaters use an electric fan or blower to push or pull combustion gases to the outdoors. This type of venting allows gas water heaters to be installed as far as 40 feet away from an outside wall and in homes without existing vertical vents.
