Cover the wallpaper seams with a thin layer of premixed joint compound. Apply the compound with a putty knife, then wet it with a sponge until it becomes more pliable. Smooth it as flat as possible with the putty knife, feathering out the edges of the compound to create an even surface. Allow the compound to dry.
