We recommend that the electric blanket is placed underneath a fitted sheet (so the direct heat is not against your skin). If you have layers on your bed, such as a mattress topper, underblanket, underquilt etc, in most cases we would recommend: (from the top down):

Do electric blankets go under the mattress topper? No, we recommend that you use your electric blanket on top of your mattress topper. If you put it under the mattress topper, it might not pose a risk but it certainly won’t transfer heat nearly as well as you would like.
Do you sleep over or under an electric blanket?
Heating blankets should always be placed over a blanket, never under another blanket or under yourself. Doing so can increase the risk of overheating.
Can you put an electric blanket under a fitted sheet?
Yes, you can place your electric blanket under you. Should you layer your blanket over or under your current mattress pad? With a low voltage electric blanket with thin wires and not as much heat, consider sandwiching it on top of the mattress pad, and directly below your fitted sheet.
Can you put a duvet over an electric blanket?
Luckily, many electric blankets are specially designed to be used underneath your duvet and can maintain a comfortable heat even when they’re covered by a duvet. Most heated mattress covers and fully fitted electric blankets are designed to be used under your duvet, so you can use them with complete confidence.
Will an electric blanket damage a memory foam mattress?
It’s completely safe to use your electric blanket with either a memory foam mattress or a memory foam mattress cover. Most modern blankets have safety features such as an overheat protection system, so they’ll never get hot enough to risk your safety.
Can you put a fitted sheet over a heated mattress pad?
Yes treat it like a regular mattress pad by putting a fitted sheet over it. You’ll lay on the fitted sheet and feel the warmth.
Can I put a heated mattress pad under a mattress protector?
Putting a heated mattress pad underneath a mattress protector may block the transition of heat. This may indirectly have you crank up the heat further so that heat can penetrate through the protector and thus overwork the heating pad. I would recommend that you keep the heated mattress pad on top of the protector.
Can you put an electric blanket under a memory foam mattress topper?
Yes, you can! An excellent thick and comfy memory foam topper will still work well with an electric blanket on top of it. To get the best benefit front our memory foam mattress topper, we’d recommend putting your blanket on top, then your bottom sheet.
Is it OK to use a heated mattress pad on memory foam?
Memory foam mattresses respond to temperature. This property allows the foam to mold to the shape of your body, but it also means heating pads may damage the mattress if used directly on top of the foam. Similarly, avoid electric blankets and heated mattress pads on memory foam mattresses.
Can you put anything on top of an electric blanket?
Place the blanket on top of you, not under you, to prevent damaging the blanket’s internal coils. Keep other items such as books, pillows and stuffed animals off of the blanket so heat has a way to escape.
Does an electric blanket have side effects?
Electric blankets pose a risk of miscarriage and birth defects, as well as fires, burns, dehydration and heat stroke. People with nerve damage and poor circulation are at particular risk.
What happens if you wet the bed with an electric blanket?
Will electric blankets get damaged if they get wet? No. There is a small chance that the blanket will cause circuit damage because the heating cables running through the sheet are insulated. However, never switch the blanket on when it is not completely dry in case water dit get past the insulation.
Can you leave electric blankets on all night?
While a modern, well-maintained electric blanket is unlikely to cause problems with proper use, it is not recommended to keep electric blankets on all night. Instead, it’s helpful to use electric blankets to warm up your bed before you get in and turn them off before you fall asleep.
Can I put a blanket over my heated blanket?
