Monstrous Scourge
Some creatures of the Scourge are not technically undead, but instead are monstrous constructions created by the science and magical experimentation of the acolytes and necromancers following Ner’zhul.
Who made frostmourne?
It was originally stated Frostmourne was forged by the Lich King. Later it was stated both it and the Helm of Domination were made by the nathrezim of the Burning Legion.

It is revealed that the Scourge was released into the Heleus Cluster centuries ago after the detonation of a powerful weapon on a Remnant space station, during a conflict involving the race known as the Jardaan, the creators of the Remnant.
Why did sargeras create the Burning Legion?
Sargeras created it with the purpose of destroying all world-souls in the universe in order to prevent the void lords from corrupting them, which would lead to the birth of a dark titan, a being of unspeakable evil that would utterly annihilate and consume the universe.
The world began to tear itself apart. Kil’jaeden plucked Ner’zhul and his followers from Draenor after they entered one of their portals and stuffed him into Northrend, where he became the Lich King.
Are the Forsaken evil?
Although most of the race is evil, the Forsaken cannot be thought of in purely dualistic terms entirely. Although undead, the Forsaken are still inherently human, the majority of whom were victims of the plague spread by Kel’Thuzad. Thus some of the Forsaken are still good beings, if no longer living.
Will we see Arthas in the maw?
The Maw primarily serves as Shadowlands’ endgame content, so it makes sense that WoW’s Arthas Menethil will be there. An iconic character like Arthas Menethil will surely appear in the expansion at some point. He’s already been sent to the Maw, so it makes sense that players would run into him there.
Will arthas be in Shadowlands?
Arthas Menethil may still play a role in the Shadowlands. While there have been minor comments from developers, the general feeling is if we do see Arthas at some point in the story he will only play a minor role and won’t interact with any important living lore characters.

The Dead Scar corresponds to the path of destruction that the armies of the Scourge led by the death knight Arthas Menethil left in their wake during their invasion of Quel’Thalas during the Third War.
