Tallow is rendered from animal fat (typically beef). It has been used in candles for centuries because it is an inexpensive wax. Candles made from tallow are slow-burning, so they are good for emergency kits.
Is wax natural or manmade?

For a fat candle you want fat or oil, pork fat, beef fat, lamb, or any lard will do, fish oil, fowl fat, and vegetable oil will fuel a fat candle, so for this fat candle I am using bacon fat.

Put deer fat in big pot and place on stove. Turn heat to medium.Let the fat melt down. Stir and skim off any large pieces of cooked meat or rind. Line deep pan with butcher paper.Pour hot tallow through strainer and into the deep pan. Let cool.Cut apart when solidified and cool.
