When you begin to brew a K-cup, there is a needle inside your coffee maker that punctures the top of the pod. This allows hot water to pass through the capsule and eventually make its way to your cup.
Can you replace the needle in a Keurig?
You can purchase and replace the needles in a Keurig. The bottom needle replacement is easier to find than a puncture needle replacement, however. To replace them, you need the entire part that houses the needle and not just the needle.
Why is my Keurig not poking hole in bottom?
If you are using ribbed k-cups (Gevalia, for example) the pin may not puncture the bottom. The pin may simply push up on the bottom as the side of the cup simply expands. If this is the case, switch to a different cup style.
