Can a hornworm hurt you?

Do hornworms make cocoons?
The wasp larvae feed on the inside of the hornworm until the wasp is ready to pupate. The cocoons look like white rice protruding from the hornworm’s body. How long does it take for a hornworm to turn into a moth?
Adult moths will emerge in 1 to 3 weeks. To prepare mature hornworm larvae for pupation, remove each larva from its vial and wash any remaining culture medium from the vial with a jet of water.
