Can I shorten earring posts?
Earring posts can sometimes be tough to cut, many are made of surgical steel. You can probably find wire cutters that will cut through them, but most wire cutters are made for cutting through softer metals and will eventually be damaged by the posts – it really depends on how many pairs of earrings you want to modify.
How do you measure earring post length?
Measure the widest part of the threaded portion of the earring post. Use a digital gauge/caliper in order to obtain accurate results. Simply screw the back to the threaded earring post post with a turning motion – much more secure than a push-on back!
How long before I can change my earrings?
Professionally, it is recommended that you change your earrings after at least six weeks after getting your piercing. Within this period, it is expected that the wound created by the piercing will have healed, and it is safe to remove the old earrings and wear new ones.
What happens if I don’t twist my earrings?
If you didn’t turn the earrings, you ran the risk of your skin growing over the back! GROSS! Piercings performed by professionals will allow your piercing room to comfortably swell. If you start twisting it, there are a lot of less than ideal things that will happen.
How long keep studs in after piercing?
Leave the earrings in your ears for six weeks or more, even at night. Removing the starter earrings too early may cause the piercings to close. Regularly wash your ears with soap and water.
How do I know the gauge of my piercing?
The measurement that you need is the distance from the piercing hole to the edge of your ear. Take this measurement in a straight line, because if you measure at a diagonal angle you will end up with a hoop that fits larger than you anticipated.
