6 mm is the standard ( for a standard height wall) No need for anything thicker. No glue, just nails see JH website for nailing specs. No need to set the joint at all but if it bothers you just fill the recess with tile adhesive when tiling.
Can you waterproof villaboard?
Wet area plasterboard perform just as well as villaboard IF the waterproofing holds up. If the waterproofing on villaboard gets damage, its less of an issue. Villaboard also require proofing.
How do I attach a Villaboard to a brick wall?
Masonry adhesive is the only compound you can use to stick villaboard to masonry. Years ago i did a retirement village using the same method and i had no problems. So big blobs of masonry adhesive to stick the panels to the walls.
